What is Hondo?

Hondo is a word-guessing game in which the more words you correctly predict in a succession, the more points you earn. The goal is to score a Hondo (100 points) in the fewest number of turns possible.

Game Rules

• When you get a code word, the game moves on to the next one. The last five guesses remain as hints on the board.
• Keep an eye on your energy gauge: each incorrect guess drains one bar, while each accurate guess replenishes one bar. If your energy is gone, the game is over.
• Each right guess is worth one point. Correct guesses in a row earn you extra points.
• The objective is to score 100 points (a Hondo) as quickly as possible.

Tips and Tricks

• First, try words using common letters.
• Maintain your focus on the keyboard. Highlighted keys have been detected; darkish keys do not appear in the code word.
• Shuffles and skips are essential. They can bail you out of a jam or allow you to extend streaks for bonus points.
• When you need additional information, shuffle it; skip it when you're close to the code word but there are too many options to guess accurately.
• Keep in mind that letters in the code phrase may repeat.
• There is a technique to "cheat" and look at the board before your last move...
• Be patient; haste is expensive. A high score necessitates logic, strategy, and luck.
