What is Sandtrix?

Sandtrix, a Tetris-inspired arcade game, is sweeping the internet! The block-placing game was created by an indie developer, mslivo, and is the second title on their itch.io page, following Itera Mall, a 2D mall management simulator.

Sandtrix differs from the popular arcade game in that all of the pieces are made of sand! A piece will begin in the standard Tetris forms, but as it comes into contact with an already placed block, it will dissolve into sand, filling up the space around it exactly like sand would.

Another variation on the classic is that a 'line' must be wall to wall of the same sand color, rather than simply filling a space. This mechanic makes it considerably more difficult than the standard game, yet it is no less gratifying. The game does contain 5x5 difficulty settings to provide a sufficient challenge for all Tetris masters out there.

Gameplay

Examine the next block's shape and color on the in-game display to the right of the playfield. Shift and rotate the block. If desired, accelerate its descent. Continue to place blocks near matching sand mounds to form lines.

How to play Sandtrix

Keyboard: To rotate a block, use the Up Arrow or W keys. Press Left Arrow or A or Right Arrow or D to move it left or right on the screen. Down Arrow or S to lower it faster. Press P to pause the game.

Mouse: To rotate a block, use the left mouse button. To move a block, press the left mouse button, slide the mouse, and then release the button.

Mobile:

• To rotate a block, use the left mouse button. To move a block, press the left mouse button, slide the mouse, and then release the button.
• Tap the buttons on your phone. Tap the trackpad or touchscreen to rotate a block. To slide a block, push the surface, then slide the stylus or finger across it.
