What is Yeardle?

Yeardle, a novel form of the game, eliminates the use of words entirely, instead forcing players to recall their high school history classes.

Yeardle presents players with three historical events and challenges them to determine the year in which they occurred. Players get eight chances to get it right, and, like with Wordle, their bad answers are repurposed as color-coded hints. Guesses that are more than 200 years off show gray, whereas guesses that are 40 to 200 years off seem brown. Accurate guesses appear in red, orange, and yellow, with green indicating a correct answer.

Game Rules

You'll begin with three random historical occurrences from a certain year. The goal is to figure out when they all happened. You can type your responses if you are near a keyboard. To denote BC(E), use a negative sign (-) before the year.

You have eight chances to get it properly. The box will light up in a different color depending on how close you are. It is entirely up to you whether to go higher or lower.

Finally, every day at midnight Central Time, a new Yeardle is automatically posted.
