What is Codenames?
Codenames is a multiplayer word game designed for 4 or more players, divided into two teams competing against each other. The game revolves around a grid of words, where players give one-word clues to help their teammates identify specific words while avoiding those belonging to the opposing team or the dreaded "assassin" word that ends the game instantly.
Rules of Game
The game begins with a grid of word cards arranged on the table, each representing a codeword. One player from each team becomes the "spymaster" responsible for providing clues, while the rest act as field operatives, trying to decipher the clues given.
The spymasters take turns providing a one-word clue that relates to one or more of the words on the grid, along with a number indicating how many words the clue pertains to. The operatives then discuss and try to guess the words based on the given clue, touching each word they believe corresponds to the clue. Correct guesses advance the game, but a wrong guess could inadvertently give points to the opposing team or trigger the game-ending assassin word.
The team that successfully identifies all their words first wins the game, showcasing their teamwork, strategy, and deduction skills.
