Originle
What Is Originle?
Originle is a unique, daily guessing game that will delight world trivia buffs and geography lovers alike. The premise is straightforward: determine which country the guest video belongs to. This game includes one video and eight clues.
Unlike your typical flag, capital, or border-based quizzes, this geography quiz makes you look at things differently and draw connections. This game tests your observational skills, geography knowledge, and ability to make smart choices with very little info.
How to Play Originle
Getting set up with the online version of Originle is quick, but it takes careful deliberation to achieve a high score.
1. Watch the First Video
To play the first round, watch the video of your guest. Think about clues and details that you can infer about the culture of the country that your guest belongs to, as well as any geographic clues that you can see. Think carefully, as the guest has the final word on what video you watch, and you don’t have much time to make your decision.
2. Reveal More Clues
Do you have any ideas on the guest's country? Press "Reveal the Next Clue" to watch another short video clip and uncover a new clue. There are 8 total clues that become simpler to interpret with each guess.
It is up to you to determine when you have enough information to make a guess. There are eight clues total, and you will want to conserve your guesses for the harder ones, but remember each hint has an increasing penalty on your final score.
3. Make Your Country Guess
You get three guesses. If you guess incorrectly, you will lose 30% of your total score. Make your guess carefully, because once you make your guess, you cannot make another for a period of time.
If you don't guess in time, you can lose all three guesses. If this happens, you will not receive a score. If you choose to quit before the time runs out, you can receive a partial score based on how close your final guess was to the actual answer.
4. Use the Globe to Track Your Ideas
Originle has a built-in Globe where you can take notes and shortlist your guess of countries. It's a great place to stay organized!
Originle Scoring System: How to Get a High Score
Getting a good score on Originle (the daily geography game) requires more than simply finding the correct location. It involves finding the best balance of being accurate while trying not to pay a high cost to get more clues.
Each game starts with the potential for a score of 10,000. Each clue reveals costs you a specific amount, and penalties for incorrect guesses are 30%. This gives you a really tough decision. Should you bet it all on your knowledge of the geography, or should you be more conservative?
The best method is to look at the video, think about possible locations, and only show more information when you feel you need more help.
