In comparison to Wordle's bright colors, refined user interface, relatively short learning curve, and multiplatform accessibility, Semantle's experience is anything but welcoming.

While the concept of guessing the "correct" word is similar, it's answer can be any number of letters long. Word2Vec, the Google-owned underlying technology that powers the game, generates a number based on the platform's understanding of language that represents how close the word's meaning is (a.k.a. how close it is semantically — hence the name) to the solution. A player's guess is given a rank if it is one of the closest 1,000 normal words to the target, according to this game's rules. You're "cold" otherwise. According to the game's instructions, "normal" here refers to words that are not capitalized or hyphenated from the extensive list of English words that Semantle uses to generate its daily solution at random.
