What is Strands?
Strands Game, a new word game from the New York Times, will challenge those who appreciate this type of game. Use word search-like gameplay to find meaningful and relevant words in the jumbled alphabet.
A word is defined by the number of letters in it, with four letters acting as the minimum length. There is also a rule that states you cannot use the same letter on the board again, so once a letter has been marked, it cannot be used again. Don't worry, players make a lot of mistakes, so you can try again and again to locate the proper word.
Rules of Game
The game consists of a 6 by 8 grid of letters, akin to a mini word search, with each player able to select words by swiping over them or selecting individual letters. On the surface, the game appears to be a word search, but there is no word bank to tell you what words to hunt for, and each letter on the grid represents a word. Furthermore, words can twist and turn in any direction. You can link the letters in any direction - up, down, left, right, or diagonally. This grid includes a hidden thread. Your goal is to find all of the words that are pertinent to this situation.
- Once completed, the remaining letters on the grid will create a "spangram," revealing the topic.
- Find topical terms to complete the table.
- When topic words are identified, they are highlighted in blue.
- Drag or tap letters to create words. If prompted, double-click the last letter to submit.
- Topic words fill the entire board. There are no duplicate topic words.
- Search for "spangram".
- The spagram expresses the puzzle's theme and connects two opposing sides of the board. Maybe two words.
- Spagrams are indicated in yellow when they are discovered.
Hints make things considerably easier and are integrated into the game. To get a hint, you must pick legitimate but incorrect terms. The harder the challenge, the more hints you will get. If you type a word that is not in the problem, your hint button will start to fill up. After you've filled out the suggestion button, tap it to see one of the words you need highlighted with dashed circles around all of the letters.
