Game Rules
You must guess a number between 0 and 1000 inclusive when playing the game. You are told how close you are with each guess. However, closeness is not measured in the conventional sense. If that were the case, you could win in two steps.
You have ten guesses to find the answer in Zpordle, and you can still lose. However, with the following strategy, you can usually win: Always guess the lowest number possible.
It is possible to create a scenario in which that strategy fails but another one succeeds. However, you usually win by guessing any number that the answer could possibly be. It's just easier to guess the simplest answer. Many possibilities are eliminated after each guess. The main challenge is determining which ones are still alive.
By incorporating the concept of p-adic distances, Zp-ordle elevates number guessing games to a whole new level. But what are p-adic distances, and how do they function in this game?
P-adic distances are a branch of mathematics that deals with a novel method of determining the "closeness" of numbers. In contrast to the common Euclidean distance, p-adic distances are defined by the prime number "p." In our case, because you have ten attempts, each with its own prime number, you will use these prime numbers (2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, and 29) to calculate how close or far your guess is to the target number.
This is how it works: The game calculates the p-adic distance between your guess and the target number for each of the ten prime numbers when you make a guess.
The smaller the p-adic distance for a prime number, the more accurate your guess. The total of these ten distances is your score for that guess. The objective is to reduce this score with each attempt, eventually getting as close to the target number as possible.
Zp-ordle adds a time element to make things even more difficult. You only have a certain amount of time to make each guess, and as the clock counts down, the pressure mounts.
